Barcelona has signed a sponsorship agreement according to which it will receive 280 million euros in the next three years.
This season, the Catalan giant will receive 43.5 million euros per season from several sponsors, and the new sponsor brings it an additional 93 million a year.
This is the Swedish audio streaming service “Spotify“, whose name will be on the jerseys of the men’s and women’s teams of Barcelona.
In addition, Spotify should get the right to change the name of the “Camp Nou” stadium with this contract.
Barcelona never changed the name of its stadium, and until 2006 it did not have a sponsor on its jerseys.
The first inscription on Barça’s jersey was given by UNICEF, and after that the sponsors were Qatar Airways and Rakuten (Viber).
Spotify’s directors were seen at the match between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid (4: 2) last weekend, so the contract is expected to be made official during the week.
This news comes amid public accusations against Spotify for spreading racial hatred, but also attitudes against vaccination.
